have taken place in the specifications and classifications of many products. The fifth edition of Basic Dental Materials has also reflected these changes and therefore, differences will exist between the current edition and previous editions. In some instances, readers may
find conflicting information between this book and other reference books (e.g., certain ISO-based classifications). These have been identified with an asterisk and readers are requested to refer the footnotes, the appendix section and the original references.
