The preclinical-level book should be easy and should provide ready reference for first- and second-year BDS students. Preclinical training aims at presenting a blend of instrumentation, scientific rationale, manual dexterity, and dental material knowledge. Encompassing such a multifold number of objectives, it often becomes difficult for an undergraduate student to grasp and perform solely with the best guidance of a prosthodontic instructor in clinic. A ready reference manual with simplified teaching and coherent revision was always felt a need during our academic career. It was out of this need that the writing of Essential Manual of Preclinical Prosthodontics began.
